Police and Government to be given lessons in briefcase tech

The resignation of assistant Commissioner Bob Quick might have saved the Met and Government any further red faces over the Easter holiday, but it raises a few questions as to the ability of ministers and senior police/security officers to keep a secret. Jacqui Smith - the honourable Home Secretary – praised the ex-Commissioner’s work; Appreciation that no doubt stems from having the spotlight taken away from her own recent inclination to ill conceived action.

This latest piece of miss-fortune comes in the wake of laptops left on trains, CDs lost in transit, papers left on display, memory sticks left in Cafes. And it’s not only the security services that can’t keep a secret, last year both Hazel Blears and Caroline Flint (communities minister and housing minister respectively) both flashed their latest reports to photographers revealing a negative housing forecast and Gordon Browns intention to become the new Alan Sugar.
