BBC journalist Alan Johnston Freed

Alan Johnston, the BBC Gaza correspondent, has been released after 114 days in captivity. He was handed over to members of the Hamas led Islamist movement that currently controls Gaza. He is expected to return to the UK later today.

The kidnap of Alan Johnston by the Army of Islam (the Palestinian Dugmush clan) led to a sustained campaign by local and international journalists to free him and to highlight the increasing threat to journalists operating in so called danger zones.
