Horse Deposits Fruity Cocktail

You can lead a horse to the bank...

...but will he be able to use the cash dispenser?

An inebriated man deposited himself and his horse in the foyer of a German bank. The man, named as Wolfgang H by the German media, parked himself and his horse "Sammy" next to the cash dispensers after having had "a few beers" with friends in Wiesenburg, southwest of Berlin, on Monday night.

"It was late, it was already dark and cold," the 40-year-old machinist told Germany's "Bild" newspaper.

A spokeswoman for the Mittelbrandenburgische Sparkasse said the man (who is an account holder) had not breached any rules, she added:

"The horse was otherwise very well behaved and kept a good watch on his master. Perhaps we should have a supply of oats and water on the premises in future."

The man was initially discovered when an early morning customer contacted local police, who moved the man on, though not before Sammy made a deposit of his own.

Fruit cocktails good for you

On a not unentirely related note, researchers in Thailand and the USA exploring ways to preserve the freshness of berries during storage unexpectedly discovered that treating berries with alcohol increased their antioxidant capacity.

No word yet on the "unexpected" health benefits of a Big Mac.
